This week, we’re highlighting the 96,000 lumen IES 4438 LED Lamp. IES is owned and operated by Dr. Ulrich Bahr and their primary focus is on electronics development and the construction of special equipment commonly used in safety testing. While IES was originally focused on the development of sensors; in recent years, they have become a global leader in LED lighting solutions.
The 4438 was developed and introduced in 2018 and has quickly become one of the most sought after “plug-and-play” LED lamps in the testing industry. The simple, compact, lightweight, and high light output of the 4438 makes it incredibly user-friendly and immediately delivers the light necessary for collecting high quality images. The lamp is designed for the field of high-speed video filming and is made for indoor environments, such as test stands for component testing, sled testing facilities, or full-scale crash test facilities, where maximum light output is needed (for occasional outdoor use, a protective rain hood is available).
In recent months, customers have begun using the 4438’s as adjustable, mounted units to illuminate the crash area, underbody photo pit, and sled area of interest. The benefit of using 4438’s to illuminate these areas as opposed to traditional lighting methods is that they are lightweight and as a result, require less infrastructure to mount and adjust the lamps. EUROAMERICA, in collaboration with IES, also has the capability to design and install custom mounting solutions that allow for arrays of 4438’s to be easily adjusted about the crash area for specific vehicles and test modes.
In addition to its compact and lightweight structure, the 4438 has an integrated fan and no limit on run time, which allows for test engineers, technicians, and photographers all to work together in the same environment, without delays. The lamp can be used standalone with no communication or external signal, with a switch ON/OFF signal, or with communication over USB or ethernet for control with PC software.
